Just a little AU out-take for Baby Boom. Because the bunny bit and made me giggle.

“You’d better lie down for this.”

A series of clicks and chirps answered him, and Perceptor smiled as the black and white and chevroned sparkling obediently settled back against the berth. Nearby, a gaggle of little bots and their imprintees watched the procedure being carried out with extreme interest.

“Now, shutter your optics. This is going to get bright.”

The beam engulfed Prowl, then faded. The observers in the room murmured as the small figure fell offline, but exhibited no physical change, but the sounds quieted when Red Alert hushed them. Pointing at Prowl, he spoke.

“Look.”

They looked, and watched as the little tactician started to grow, clearly leaving sparkling proportions behind. Perceptor looked relieved, and behind him another black and white sparkling trilled a questioning note.

“Right. Of course you’re next, Jazz. Don’t fidget. I don’t know what will happen if the exposure is uneven.”

Grinning, Jazz waved at Mirage and Bumblebee before his visor flicked off and Perceptor hit him with the ray. He too went offline, chassis shifting away from his infant form. It was then that Optimus made his query, sounding anxious.

“Perceptor, Skyfire, Prowl seems to have… stopped.”

Blinking, the research mechs turned to the Prime and his once sparkling, then stilled, staring at a Prowl who, while not a sparkling any more, was still not by any stretch of the imagination an adult mech. Turning back to Jazz, who’d also stopped at the same growth stage as Prowl seemed to be at, Perceptor scanned both tactician and saboteur and conferred in hushed tones with the shuttle, the rest of the mechs in the room gathering around them in concern.

There was a noise, and they turned back to meet the wide optics of a doorwinged youngling, standing by the berth, calmly staring up at them. Optimus crouched down to the still much smaller mech’s level.

“Prowl? How do you feel?”

“Alright, sir.”

“As well as he can be, with alla you staring at him, boss bot.”

Another voice chimed in, and the Autobot commander looked in the speaker’s direction, only to see a youngling Jazz slip off his own medical berth to vault over Prowl’s, landing neatly by the young Datsun, who raised an optic ridge at the performance. Typical behaviour for Prowl and Jazz. But what the Porsche said next stalled his audience.

“At least, I think you’re the boss bot around here. Y’certainly the biggest, and that tends to mean the most weight to throw around.” The visored youngling shrugged cheekily at the stunned mechs, turning to Prowl and sticking out a hand.

“M’name’s Jazz. What’s yours?”

“Prowl.” The youngling tactician took the Ops mechling’s hand, then glanced up at the red bot who shoved his way forward with a horrified look on his faceplates. A horrified look that only grew in dread when Prowl tilted his helm in a puzzled manner and said, “Wow, you’re old, Red. What happened?”

“Oh no. No. Nonononono.” The security director’s helm started to spark, and the chevroned youngling reached out for him in concern, only to be tugged back by Jazz.

“Hey, we’re surrounded by grown mechs, one of whom’s fragging bigger than the both of us combined. Your friend is barely recognisable to you and panicking at your presence. Now, I don’t know ‘bout you, but to me, that means we’re in serious trouble.”

“… I concur.”

Prowl’s solemn expression was met by a mischievous one. Slowly, a tiny smile flickered across his faceplates, and as one both turned and bolted for the exit, ducking the larger mechs with alarming ease.

“Follow me! Got the layout of this place downloaded.”

“No hacking the network, Jazz!” Red Alert managed to gather his wits enough to snap at Jazz, only for the youngling to call back as he skidded through the doorway.

“Sorry, bot’s gotta stay functional. See ya!”

“Prowl!”

“I’ll find you later, Red! Promise!” Prowl called as he ran out, hot on Jazz’s heels. Red Alert sank down on the nearest berth, optics turned skyward in resignation as the others eyed him with bewilderment.

“Not. Good.”

The remaining sparklings broke out into giggles. This was going to be fun.

*cracks up* And if this were to be even partially within the canon-verse, then Red knows that Prowl and Jazz know what's what and are going to play this up just as much as the sparkling part. He should hold the other bitty-bots for ransom XD

Oh man, it's probably a good thing that Percy hadn't gotten to the seekerlings and Jack yet. He and Screamer would go set off an explosion and feign ignorance that whatever they'd built/mixed would react that way!

Or, Perceptor's ray, instead of re-aging the sparklings, actually turns them into younglings instead, this time, without their adult memories. Mwahah. The Ark's in for a Pit of a ride. >:3

Hmm - I'm not sure if I'm relieved or saddened that it's not an official part of this -verse...

Poor Red. Damn Prowl had an unreserved mouth on him as a youngster.

Thinking a bit more... good that it's NOT canon. Cuz them staying adult all but physically - this goes a bit contrary to the logic you've set up. But still quite entertaining :)

Yeah, it wouldn't fit the rules of the 'verse, but I figure, since this is an omake, I get to play around with it a little.

So here Perceptor actually turns the sparklings into younglings through the use of a subtly different ray, and because of that, they don't retain their adult minds ^_^

Oh, but if this DID become part of the "Manual" series, imagine what havoc full-grown mech processors in youngling frames would wreak on the Ark! I say, go for it!

Great job with an off-the-wall premise. Thanks!

They're almost like teenagers, aren't they?

Would Transformers have hormones, do you think? Or is this the wrong sandbox? :)
