Title: Dr Spock's Sparkling Care: Seeker Edition (Chapter 4)
'Verse: G1 Transformers
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: TF cussing
Spike sighed, staring at the sparkling curled up on Skywarp’s berth, then turned to the young woman standing beside him. “You know, I wasn’t expecting to land a parental role quite this soon. I mean, we’d just started seeing each other seriously.”
Carly agreed. “I don’t think any human could possibly predict they’d suddenly become parent to a seeker.”
“Wait.” The humans turned back to look at the teleporter, who was shifting uneasily next to the recharging seekerling. “The Autobots really didn’t plan for Starscream to imprint on you, right?”
“Skywarp!” The blue seeker hissed, wary of waking the sparkling, and the other flier turned back with an insistent look.
“Look, TC, it’s just remarkably convenient, okay?!”
Thundercracker sighed, trying to sound rational. “I find it hard to believe the ‘Bots would let any sparkling, let alone a Decepticon seeker sparkling with fully adult trinemates imprint on the most vulnerable individuals in their base. They’re squishy, for Primus’s sake.”
“Well. Maybe the selection of imprintees was unfortunate, but you can’t deny the tactical advantages for them to have Starscream bonded to an Autobot. There were certainly enough of them around him, and we weren’t always by his side. They could have planned-”
The blue jet cut his trinemate off gently. “ ‘Warp, they didn’t think he’d wake up so soon, or even imprint on anyone at all. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have had Spike or Carly anywhere near him. And honestly? I’d rather he end up becoming an Autobot than deactivated.”
“But he’s gonna be forced to stay with them now, and so are we.”
“That was going to be the case anyway. The Autobots can take care of a sparkling, we can’t, and our previous faction won’t. We, on the other hand, can still leave. They won’t keep us from him if he needs us, and he will. The only way to ensure that we’d have stay was to have him imprint on us.”
“I… You’re right. Sorry.” The purple and black seeker drooped, gently running fingertips along the little seeker’s tiny wings. Thundercracker chirred soothingly, joining him on the berth, lightly resting a wing against the teleporter’s own pair.
“Well then, if there’s nothing else for now, I’ll go get Jazz.” From a prudent distance away (far enough to make it to the door before a seeker might catch up to them, close enough to not be so blatant about it), Carly spoke, her comment followed by Spike announcing he’d stay in case Starscream woke up.

Moving Spike and Carly in was a lot easier than expected. Spike already had quarters in the Ark; all it took was shifting some essential things over to the seekers’ room. Carly, however, had to go home to pack for an extended stay in the Autobot base. Taking advantage of the fact that Starscream was still offline, she left in Jazz, the Porsche agreeing to hurry as much as he could without breaking the law.
When she returned, it was to Thundercracker holding a grumpy looking seekerling in his arms, accompanied by Spike, who was carefully stroking a dark helm. The blue jet was walking back and forth across the room, expression half amused, Starscream’s optics were flickering, going off, then on again, as if the sparkling was reluctant to go back into recharge.
The young man sighed, then prodded Thundercracker to draw his attention. The seeker quirked an optic ridge upwards, and Spike gestured to the mech’s chestplates. “Can you get your systems to make the same sound Jazz did earlier?”
Nodding, the seeker did so, and both watched as the sparkling nodded drowsily, still fighting to keep awake. The young man resumed petting Starscream’s helm, the baby jet curling against Thundercracker’s cockpit glass as he did so, not falling asleep just yet.
“Obstinate little seekerlet.” Came Spike’s declaration, and Thundercracker chuckled in agreement. The yound man sighed again, then began to sing. Well, more humming, a child’s lullaby if she remembered the tune correctly, and he was doing quite well. Starscream shifted, snuggling closer, optics finally falling offline.
Skywarp returned as well then, arms full of human sized furniture and miscellaneous objects (Carly privately thought he looked like he’d been off playing with dolls or the Cybertronian equivalent), and she stopped him before he could enter the room proper and disrupt the moment. The teleporter stared, then smiled faintly, looking down at the woman.
“That’s… actually kinda cute.”
“Yeah.”
“I’m so getting an image capture of this.”
“Take a vid. And make me a copy.”
“Got it.”

Date: 2009-06-06 11:20 pm (UTC)Oh, LOVELY! Suspicion and uber-cuteness combined.
Somehow, I see Paternal!Spike waking up Carly's "lizard brain". (If you don't know what I mean, check out Ursulav's explanation of the phenomenon.) Imagine the fun she'd have trying to explain that to Skywarp and Thundercracker (with Jazz's amused assistance). ;)
