Happy Mother's Day

~ It was… easier, not to name the sparklet. ~
~I understand. ~
~Do you have one? ~
~… Sojourner. ~
~One who makes only a temporary stay. Fitting.~
~I’ll add the name to the records of our fallen.~
And with that, Prowl pulled away, only to suddenly lunge forward, clutching at his chest. Springer caught him, stunned as the mech jammed a hand inside his systems, keeping the green mech’s spark chamber from closing.
“Prowl!”
He supported the smaller mech as both dropped to the floor, pulling him onto his lap and against his torso, keeping his spark bared to the tactician’s. Prowl always had a reason for his actions, as mystifying as they might be at times.
“Springer. Look.”
He looked, and a startled noise escaped his vocaliser at the sight. The tiny fragment that he’d thought was Prowl’s half was still there, flickering defiantly, and growing brighter as it drew from both their sparks, floating out between the two of them as the Wrecker pressed even closer, afraid that the new spark would go out from being in the open.
“Stubborn, just like its carrier.” The SIC murmured, a faint smile on his faceplates, and Springer chuckled, half relieved and half disbelieving.
“Like the both of us, you mean. Looks like our Sojourner’s a survivor.” A flash, as if in agreement, and the now brilliant light spun briefly and withdrew into Prowl. Automatically, the chevroned mech’s plating sealed, protecting the two sparks that now resided in his laser core.
“Help me get to Ratchet.”
The green mech nodded, then hesitated. “Prowl… I can’t claim the sparkling. It’s dangerous enough with you being known as one of the creators, I…”
“I know. We’ll keep this quiet as long as we can, but it will leak that I carried a new spark eventually.” The tactician slipped off Springer’s lap to lean against the foot of his desk, looking up at the Wrecker as he stood. “Say you found me collapsed on the ground. No one will suspect you had anything to do with the creation.”
“Our usual state of antagonism is really going to help us there.” The green mech smiled, and Prowl hummed in amusement, then shuttered his optics, only to unshutter them at Springer’s worried query. “Prowl?”
“Just tired. I’ve not adapted to a second spark like you have. Ratchet will think I’ve overworked myself again, and be even more ticked off when he finds out that I’ve done so while 'carrying'.” The mech sighed as he slowly rose off the ground, using the piece of furniture behind him as a support.
“On the bright side, he can’t yell at you or hit you now. Me on the other hand… Ratchet’s not above shooting the messenger.”
“He’ll be too busy.”
“Oh?”
“The sparkling’s past ready for a protoform. You, or rather, I, have been carrying too long. But all the same, I suggest we get him before he goes into recharge for the night. Ratchet can hold a grudge, and it gets worse if he’s pulled out of his recharge cycle. He gets little enough as it is.”
“Yessir.” Springer saluted with a grin, then slid an arm about Prowl to support him, flinging the door open to get the mech to medical and sending a suitably urgent comm. the chief medic’s way.

Date: 2009-05-09 05:50 pm (UTC)I wanna see Jazz's reaction when he finds out Prowl was 'carrying'. Well, and the reaction of the rest of the crew but Jazz's reaction most of all.
Lil' Sojourner is going to have the entire Ark wrapped around his little finger, isn't he? (And the Wreckers when they find out who the other parent is). I can kinda imagine Ratchets reaction to this (it involves a lot of swearing and promises of for things best left undescribed once Sojourner gets his protoform)
Are you gonna bring the Seeker-sparkling-protection thing into this fic?

Date: 2009-05-09 07:02 pm (UTC)Idiosyn has a multipart fic going in which the Wreckers turn out to be great parents. ...kind of helps that the sparkling in question is Springer, himself.
The whole thing with Springer reminded me of this and...well... fly-by fic and I hope you don't mind...!
Also, Sojurner and Hunter = too cute! -proceeds to squee over cuteness-
